Colombia Imports Fall 16.1% YoY in October
Imports to Colombia fell 16.1 percent year-on-year to USD 4.33 billion in October 2019, after a 3.8 percent gain in September, mostly due to lower purchases of manufactured goods (-15.3 percent), in particular machinery & transport equipment (-24.1 percent); agricultural products, food & beverages (-2.2 percent), namely food & live animals (-5.6 percent); and fuels & mining products (-43.2 percent), of which petroleum products & related (-45.3 percent). Meanwhile, other sectors imports rose 29.4 percent. Main important import partners were China (22.8 percent of total imports), the US (22.1 percent), Mexico (8.5 percent), Brazil (6.1 percent) and Germany (4.2 percent).

Colombia Imports Rise 3.8% YoY in September
Imports to Colombia rose 3.8 percent year-on-year to USD 4.20 billion in September 2019, after a 7.3 percent increase in the previous month, boosted by higher purchases of agricultural products, food & beverages (13.6 percent), namely food & live animals (25.4 percent); fuels & mining products (24.7 percent), in particular petroleum products & related (21.8 percent); and other sectors (76.7 percent). On the other hand, purchases of manufactured goods were unchanged, of which machinery & transport equipment (-4.9 percent). The most important import partners were the US (23 percent of total imports), China (20.9 percent), Mexico (8.5 percent), Brazil (6.3 percent) and Germany (3.9 percent).

Colombia Imports Rise 7.3% YoY in August
Imports to Colombia increased 7.3 percent year-on-year to USD 4.91 billion in August 2019, following a 5 percent gain in July, driven by higher purchases of fuels & mining products (63.3 percent), of which crude oil (100.7 percent); agricultural products, food & beverages (16.6 percent), in particular food & live animals (28.1 percent); and other sectors (0.1 percent). On the other hand, purchases of manufactured goods dropped 0.1 percent, mostly due to manufactured products classified chiefly by material (-11.9 percent).

Colombia Imports Rise 5% in July
Imports to Colombia rose 5 percent year-on-year to USD 4.57 billion in July 2019, following a 5.7 percent drop in the previous month, boosted by purchases of: fuels & mining products (12.6 percent) in particular crude oil (19.0 percent); agricultural products, food & beverages (10.5 percent), mainly food & live animals (19.1 percent); and manufactured goods (3.2 percent) on the back of machinery & transport equipment (10.7 percent) and Miscellaneous manufactured articles (5.7 percent).

Colombia Imports Slide For 1st Time in Over a Year
Imports to Colombia fell 5.7 percent year-on-year to USD 3.98 billion in June 2019, after a 6.1 percent rise in the previous month. It was the first decline in imports since March 2018, due to lower purchases of manufactured goods (-5.4 percent), of which machinery & transport equipment (-1.9 percent); chemicals (-4.1 percent); manufactured articles (-14.4 percent); and agricultural products, food and beverages (-18.8 percent), in particular food & live animals (-14.7 percent) and oils & fats of vegetable origin (-24.7 percent). In contrast, those of fuels and related products grew 9.7 percent, namely petroleum products and related (16 percent). Considering the first six months of the year, imports advanced 5.8 percent over a year ago.

Colombia Imports Rise 6.1% YoY in May
Imports to Colombia rose 6.1 percent year-on-year to USD 4.79 billion in May 2019, after a 6.8 percent gain in the previous month. Imports were driven by higher purchases of fuels and related products (40 percent), namely petroleum products and related (50 percent); manufactured products (4.4 percent), of which vehicles (38.5 percent), other transport equipment (27.7 percent), clothing and footwear (36.6 percent), power generators machinery and equipment (18.1 percent), and professional and scientific devices (15.5 percent); and other sectors (41.3 percent). On the other hand, purchases of agricultural products, food and beverages dropped 5.6 percent, in particular oils and fats of vegetable origin (-35.2 percent), and coffee, tea, cocoa, and spices (-10.9 percent).
